Eduardo Consebido Ariate, the youngest of seven, was born to Cirila and Jose Ariate in Nagcarlan, Laguna, Philippines. He passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, at the age of 77, in the comfort of his home in Los Angeles, California.
Eduardo’s pursuit of knowledge began at Crisanto Guisayco Elementary School in Nagcarlan, Laguna. He attended Sacred Heart Academy for high school before earning a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Santo Tomas (UST). After graduating, he dedicated himself to teaching, beginning his career at Rizal Standard Academy and later becoming a professor at UST.
In August 1972, at the age of 24, he immigrated to the United States, where he continued his studies at Woodbury University and California State University, Los Angeles (CSULA). He worked in various fields but found his calling as a real estate agent at Century 21 P&S Realty.
Beyond his professional career, Eduardo was deeply involved in the Filipino community. From 1982 to 1984, he served as the President of The Nagcarlan Association of California, Incorporated (NASCI), a role in which he fostered connections among fellow Filipinos and helped preserve the rich culture of his hometown.
He was a devoted husband to Wilma Paclibar Ariate, who preceded him in death in 1998. He is survived by his loving daughters, Cheryl, Gretchen, and Katie, as well as his older sister, Avelina Malata, and older brother, Cristobal Ariate.
Eduardo had a deep love for art and music. He was a talented singer, guitarist, and artist who found joy in drawing and serenading loved ones with his rich, melodic voice. In his younger years, he and his “barkada” would perform traditional “harana,” bringing music and warmth to many. A true social butterfly, he cherished gatherings with his closest friends and family and found comfort in his favorite shows on The Filipino Channel (TFC).
Beyond his talents and passions, Eduardo was known for his incredible sense of humor. He had a gift for making those around him laugh, always lightening the mood with a joke or a witty remark. First and foremost, he was a family man—loving, doting, and selfless. But above all else, he was a devoted father. With a provider’s heart, he gave his daughters the world, ensuring they were always loved, supported, and cared for. His presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Eduardo’s funeral service will be held at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills on April 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM. Our family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love and support during this difficult time.
