Edna Warren

Edna Warren, longtime Hollywood resident, passed away August 7, 2018 after a long journey with dementia. Edna and her husband Dwight who predeceased her, were active in the Hollywood business community for most of their lives. Born in 1920, Edna, the daughter of Ukrainian immigrants, started her life in Massachusetts, but moved to Hollywood when she was two years old. She was almost a Hollywood native since she lived there for the rest of her life. She loved music, she played the piano and saxophone and even performed professionally in a band with her sisters in the 1940's. She was fortunate to have a large family, three sisters and a brother, whom she grew up with.
At Hollywood High School, she met Dwight, and he was the spark that changed her life. After graduation they married and went on to own a plumbing business which she managed for over 50 years. When they began the plumbing business, it was a retail store as well as a repair business. She hosted many community outreach dinners and became known for her cooking and baking skills. She took care of several friends when they needed help and always had time to thank those who helped her with one of her delicious home-made coffee cakes.
In addition to her administrative work in the plumbing office, she found time to participate with Dwight in community organizations including Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the Optimist Club and Cub Scouts. Working with her two young sons and their friends through the cub scouts was a joy for her. She also could give the most interesting Hollywood tours imaginable. She knew the anecdotes, the ins and outs of Hollywood history and could always find a great parking space!
She was a devoted grandmother to Jennifer and planned many activities, cooking sessions and adventures with her. They shared a special relationship.
She and Dwight shared in a loving, supportive marriage which was cut short too soon by his untimely death. She is survived by her two sons, Dwight (Grace) and Ron, her granddaughter Jennifer (Mike Hamilton), her grandson Logan, and her niece and nephew Nikki and Rick Maki.
She was interred at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills.
