Edith was born in Dolores Abra, Philippines and is the daughter to Msgt. Samson T. and Ester Gumtang (deceased), sister to Agripina, Lt. Colonel Artemio (deceased), and Jeremias (deceased).
She began her career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse at the national headquarters of the Philippine Army, Fort Bonifacio (formerly Fort McKinley) and remained in the profession for over 12 years, then moved to California and worked until her retirement of 30 years at Xerox Corporation in El Segundo.
Edith was active in the local community of Gardena, California where she lived for over 40 years.
A devoted Parishioner, Eucharistic Minister, and Rosary Group member at Saint Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Gardena, California, she was also a founding member and officer of GASCA - Gumaca Association USA an organization dedicated to helping the needs of the city of Gumaca in the Philippines.
She was also a member of the Ladies of the Knights of Columbus Council #4038, a Catholic organization serving the needs of the local Southern California community.
Edith was an active world traveler of North and Central America, Europe, and, Asia but especially loved the Venice Canals in Italy, the majestic Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia and the great outdoors of Yosemite and the Grand Canyon. Her love for travel also include memorable cruises to the Bahamas, the Panama Canal, and Alaska.
She had an abundance of love for singing and line dancing, actively watched shows like Wowowin, cooked native Fiiipino dishes such as Pinakbet, and enjoyed the thrills of zip-lining.
She was an avid sports fan of the Lakers and Dodgers and the biggest fan to her kids as they played various sports from youth to college. She was a doting grandmother who loved cheering for her grandchildren in their sports and activities.
Most especially she loved spending time with her family and friends and ended many days feeling the ocean breeze in her hair at the Esplanade in Redondo Beach with her husband by her side of 49 years.
She is survived by Agripina (sister), Gerardo (husband), Geredith (daughter), Salvador (son-in-law) and their children Roman (18), Gabriela (16), Gerald (son), Camille (daughter-in-law) and their children Garrett (16), and Caiden (12).
