Edgardo Castuera Perez

December 12, 1946 — July 30, 2012

Our Father, Edgardo Castuera Perez, was born on December 12, 1946, in Bulacan, Philippines, He went to school at the University of the Philippines for High School wherein he made good friends and lasting relationships, he then answered his calling and entered the Philippine Military Academy in Baguio Philippines to be a cavalier, this is where he learned the basic values of Courage, Integrity, and Loyalty and instilled this in his daily life. He formed a bond that cannot be broken, a bond of trust, and friendship with his Mistahs that even now had remained strong all throughout his life.

Upon graduation, he decided to enter the Philippine Navy, wherein he steadily rose in rank and had different commands in the different areas in the Navy. His hard work had not gone unnoticed as he was able to reach the rank of Captain and retire at the rank of Commodore. The family had always been very appreciative and thankful that he had always put his family as his first priority instead of his career as he was able to maintain a good balance between the two.

Another aspect of his life was his activities with a lot of different organizations that he became a member and actively participated and eventually became a mentor for all.

He was a member of the Marriage Enrichment Apostolate, a Catholic Church organization in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite which focused on the spirituality and commitment of married couples with one another. This had spanned a total of 38 years, a lifetime for others but too short for some. The people in this organization had grown, respected and loved my father as this was very evident with the friends or if we may find a better word for friends I would say "Family" that he had, there was never a time that I saw them treat our family any different and was always willing to go the extra mile for our family.

My Father was also a Freemason, as a member of the Grand Lodge of the Philippines, with his mother lodge being Primera Luz Filipina Lodge #69, wherein he also rose from the ranks of an ordinary member to a Worshipful Master, to a District Deputy Grand Master, and finally a Grand Lodge Officer. He was also a recipient of one of Masonry's highest honor which is the Hiram Award. He had made many friends and relationships that also formed a bond that you could not break. He stood for his ground for his principles with this organization and was able to mentor a lot of other Freemasons.

He was also a member of Order of the Amaranth, wherein he and my mother rose the ranks of this organization to be Grand Royal Matron and Patron in the Philippines, My father was able to guide and mentor the organization and left a legacy that we know touched the lives of its members.

There are a lot of other organizations and groups that he had joined and mentored, such as being an adviser and a Dad to members of the Rainbow Girls, of which a lot of the members do truly treat him as their second father in life. I have been a witness to how they respect my dad and show him of their love.

Other organizations as well such as the Rotary Club, Shriner, and many others we know that he had touched one way or another.

But above all of the organizations, institutions, and clubs, He will always be a Father that I and with all of my brothers highly respect and love. We could have never asked for a better man for this job. He taught us a lot of things even without saying, he showed it in his actions to others, this is something that we have always tried to emulate in our own lives. We would never be the person we are today without him. It is with his love to our Mother that he showed the value of marriage and relationships. My father has now been married to my mother for 39 years, a feat that is getting more rare nowadays, something that I know that all of my brothers will always keep to our hearts in our own relationships.

It pains us very dearly to lose our father, it will always keep a hole in our hearts, there is no amount of words that can truly describe the man that he has been for us, and the husband that he is to our Mom. It is with great regret and sadness that he had to leave us already to be back in the arms of our loving Father in Heaven. Our only solace now is he is with our loved ones who had gone before him. There is no more pain, no more hurt, we know Dad you are in good hands now. Till the time that we meet again.

I am quite sure that all our loved ones have been waiting for you for your reunion up there.

We will always treasure the love and memories that you have given us your family till the day we see you once more.

We Love you very much,

Your Boys,

Ritchie, Rommel, Radley, & Rembrandt

Your Loving Wife,

Airene.

and all your friends and family that you have touched.
