Edgardo Magno, 70, died peacefully on the 20th of March 2019 in the California city of Carson.
Ed, as he was affectionately known, was born on March 11, 1949 to Uricio and Emilia Magno. He would be the third child following his two older brothers, Uricio II and Danny, younger brother Willie and only sister, Lorna.
His early school days were spent at Don Bosco. He eventually became a cadet in ROTC. In college, Ed majored in Economics and received his Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of the East. During his career, he spent time as the Director at the Maritime Industry Authority. By September 1972, he married Rebecca and stayed married until 1987.
Ed immigrated to Southern California in 1985 to join his parents and siblings to provide a better life for his family. It is while living in Buena Park that he was able to establish his own trucking business in 1992, following in the footsteps of his father and siblings. By 2012, Ed was able to retire and close his business.
Ed was a very active member of the Don Bosco Philippines Alumni Association of North America and Cavitenos Association of Southern California. His generosity was sincere and well known amongst his close family and social circles. He helped coordinate the efforts to raise funds used to buy medical supplies, provide medical services, and help send disadvantaged children to school in the Philippines. Also it would be through these organizations that Ed would develop life-long friendships. Ed enjoyed ballroom dancing, where he would eventually meet Elvie. They would enjoy life together, dancing and dining with friends on weekends, playing with his grandkids, travelling and attending various fundraising and social events. Although Ed would suffer through several health issues over the last few years, Ed was able to overcome them with Elvie, his children and family and close friends by his side.
He is survived by his four daughters, Jennifer, Jocelynne, Jaclynne and Julie Anne, sons-in-law Louie, Eugene and John, six grandchildren, Ciaran, Ethan, Elise, Emily, Kyle and Hanna, the mother of his children, Rebecca, brother Willie, sister Lorna, many nieces and nephews, and lastly the love of his life, Elvie.
