Edgar Villamon Javier (1953-2025)

Edgar “Guy” Villamon Javier, 72, passed away on Thursday, October 16th, 2025.

Guy was born in Manila, Philippines on September 15, 1953 to Alberto Javier Jr. and Elisa Villamon Javier. He finished Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Philippines Diliman and joined Upsilon Sigma Phi, Batch ‘74.

He was always interested in how gadgets worked. His future as an engineer was revealed early in childhood when he disassembled his toys and reconstructed them back to functionality. In the Javiers’ decades-long participation in Soap Box Derby racing, where they had continuous and consistent success, he was the main contributor regarding the Physics aspect of construction and racing—aerodynamics, weight distribution, etc.

In his professional life he worked for Liebherr Heavy Machineries and Teresa Marble Corporation in the Philippines; and MDS Consulting and Owen Group Inc. in California.

As a grandson of a musician, he had a talent for playing saxophone.

He is survived by his wife, Remy; daughters Frances (husband Will, daughter Elle) and Julia (husband Connor); and brothers Alberto and Adonis. A younger brother, Dante Genaro, died in 1993.

Memorial services will be on Friday, November 7th, 2025 at Forest Lawn Cypress, Church of Our Fathers, 4471 Lincoln Ave, Cypress, CA 90630. The first viewing service is from 5:00-6:00PM, followed by Upsilon Sigma Phi FNR from 6:00-6:30PM. Afterwards, there will be a mass from 6:30-7:00PM, followed by a second viewing from 7:00-9:00PM.
