On Sunday, April 21, 2019, at 3:15 p.m., Early Jones, Jr., avid golfer and family man, passed away at the North Carolina State Veterans Home in Fayetteville, NC. He was 103 years old. Early was born on March 22, 1916 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Early Jones, Sr. and Mary (Maxie) Jones. Early attended school in Shreveport, Louisiana. He married Magdalene Hall on October 21, 1935 in Shreveport, LA. They had two children, a daughter, Earlene Marie and a son, Early III.
Early was drafted into the U.S. Army on January 13, 1944 where he served in World War II under the 1328th Engineer C Battalion. They later moved to Los Angeles, California. Early worked at the Western-Gillette Trucking Company as a mechanic until his retirement in 1972.

Early had an intense passion for golfing. He was a life member of the PGA Tour Partners Club, as well as a member of the United States Golf Association. He participated in numerous golf tournaments and won several trophies and awards. To round out his passion, he also spent many years as a golf instructor. Early was also a very family oriented man and a loyal friend. He enjoyed traveling with his family and friends. He had a unique ability to spread joy and laughter to those he came in contact with. He was also known for his ability to always work hard for what he wanted.

Early leaves to cherish his memory; his daughter, Earlene Thomas, a sister, Mary J. Keller, four grandchildren, Debra Simpson, Michele Gaines, Aprille Moore and LaTricia Smith; 19 great grandchildren; 37 great-great grandchildren; 10 great-great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Magdalene, his son, Early III, 3 brothers, 8 sisters and 4 grandchildren.

A visitation will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 from 4PM-6PM at Unity Chapel at Cliffdale, 1037 71st School Road, Fayetteville, NC 28314

A visitation will also be held Thursday, May 2, 2019 from 5PM-9PM in Visitation Room A, Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90068

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles, CA at 3 O'clock p.m.
