Earl Dalton Lucas

March 8, 1930 — May 1, 2012

Earl Dalton Lucas, Jr. was born March 8, 1930 in Beaumont, Texas and passed away on May 1, 2012 in Torrance, California.

Known to many as "Shot" (short for Big Shot), Earl was very popular at Charlton Pollard High School in Beaumont, Texas where he was captain of the football team.

After high school, Earl dutifully served his country as a member of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Upon his return from service, he married his high school sweetheart, Emma Lois Allen, and together they relocated to Los Angeles, California and produced three children.

Earl attended Barber College and subsequently became an instructor. He also worked at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. for several years. Earl enjoyed the independence and social interaction of working as a barber in Carson, California for many years before he finally retired at the age of 80.

As an only child, Earl was definitely a "mama's boy" and was very close to his mother, Evelyn. When she was no longer able to care for herself, Earl moved his mother from Texas to California to oversee her care and well-being until her eventual passing.

Earl is survived by his three children, Darrell K. Lucas of Lynwood, California; Stephanie G. Black of Park City, Illinois and Renee Simon of Whittier, California; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
