Dumas Garcia

Dumas Garcia (July 15, 1944-May 21, 2025)

Dumas Vito Garcia Panana, aged 80, of Long Beach, California, peacefully passed away at home of natural causes on May 21, 2025.

Dumas was born on July 15, 1944 in the city of Huacho, Peru, to Flora Panana, and Jose Garcia. He was raised in Huacho and moved to Lima at the age of 13. He went to Hipólito Unanue Gran Unidad Escolar secondary school. He later went to go study philosophy and education at the Universidad Nacional Federico Viarreal, where he then was employed at the Ministry of Agriculture. He graduated in 1968. That same year he also married his wife, Dora, and they had their first child. They had their second and third in 1969 and 1972. In 1989 he immigrated to America, where he settled in Long Beach, CA, and he worked as a chef at Courtyard Los Angeles.

Dumas enjoyed watching futbol and volleyball. His favorite team was el Municipal de Lima. His love for futbol lead him to be the leader of the America de Cochuahuayco de San Luis from 1970 to 1989 in Lima. He was a prominent figure in the APRA political party in Lima and was the University Leader of the Faculty of Education and the President of the Union of APRA agricultural workers. Dumas loved to sunbathe and drink Inca Kola and Pepsi. He was social and the life of the party. He was hardworking and paved the way for his children and grandchildren. He was so loved.

Dumas leaves behind his wife, 2 children and 5 grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 4471 Lincoln Ave Cypress, Ave 90630 on June 14, 2025 with mass starting at 11:30am and the viewing from 1:30pm to 5:00pm.
