DUFFY CHISHOLM'S OBITUARY
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Duffy Chisholm, at age 94. He passed away peacefully with his family present on March 20, 2025. He is survived by his five children, Duffy, Mary, Frank, Rito and Christina, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, his brother Alex & sister Mary, his sister-in-law Frances, daughter-in-law Irene, 4 nieces, 5 nephews and several cousins.
Duffy was born at Queen of Angels Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif. Following his birth, he was raised at Evelyn, a railroad section station between Shoshone & Death Valley Junction. In 1936 the family moved to Death Valley Junction where Duffy attended school until the spring of 1942. With the start of WWII, the family moved to Los Angeles. In Oct. 1948, Duffy enlisted in the Air Force and was honorably discharged as T/SGT in Oct. 1957. Returning to Compton, Calif. he was briefly employed on the assembly line at a Buick-Pontiac-Oldsmobile Plant in South Gate. He also worked at Douglas Aircraft before accepting employment as machine shop helper with Angeles Sanitary Can Machine Co. He received promotions as Chief Inspector & Purchasing Manager before retiring with 35 years of service in Feb. 1994.
Returning to the desert in his final years, he lived happily working at his hobbies of model trains & airplanes and making gifts for family and friends as an avid woodworker. He loved and was preceded in death by Dorina, the mother of his 5 children and his sister Christina Foley, brothers-in-law Ted Foley and Richard Rhodes. Funeral services will be held at Forest Lawn Mortuaries in Cathedral City on Wednesday, April 23rd, with viewing from 12noon to 8pm and rosary at 6pm. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 24th at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Desert Hot Springs at 10am. Real Life has begun; He is going Home" Dios te Bendiga!
