Douglas Wayne James Miller, born on January 4, 1945, in Edmonton, AB, Canada, peacefully passed away on March 28, 2025. A devoted husband, father, step-father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Douglas leaves behind a legacy marked by his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family.
Douglas earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Alberta and began his career in architecture and engineering. He dedicated many years to leading a team at Nova Corporation in Calgary, Alberta, where his expertise and leadership were invaluable. He later transitioned to working at Emperor's College, an acupuncture school in Santa Monica, CA, where he left an indelible mark on students with his knowledge and care for their education.
Known for his gentle nature, Douglas had a way of making everyone feel seen and special. His warm smile lit up the lives of those he encountered, and his presence brought joy to countless moments. He relished going to the mountains and on road trips, collecting stamps and National Geographic magazines, and spending countless hours reading or listening to audiobooks. He had a passion for cars and indulged in watching Formula One races. Douglas also found delight in sharing video clippings, photos, and information he discovered with his loved ones. With an eye for photography; he cherished taking and looking at photos, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Douglas is survived by his beloved wife, Hanh, alongside his children and step-children, who will forever treasure his love and wisdom. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable happiness and laughter, and by many loving family members who grieve his loss.
In honor of Douglas's life, a funeral service will be held on May 17, 2025, at 9:30 AM at the Forest Lawn - Long Beach - Cathedral Chapel at 1500 East San Antonio Drive in Long Beach, California. The service will allow family and friends to gather, share stories, and celebrate the man who touched so many with his kindness and warmth.
Douglas Wayne James Miller will be missed profoundly, but his legacy of love, kindness, humor, and wisdom will remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
