Douglas Arthur Jackson

Doug Jackson, age 83, of Indian Wells, Calif. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 6, 2015. He was born on October 6, 1931 to Arthur and Hilda Jackson in Detroit, Mich. Doug and his precious wife, Beverley Jean Jackson were married on July 21, 1951 at Grace Church of the Nazarene, in Detroit. They were married for 63 years, together having five children; Karen Christensen, Bruce (Danette) Jackson, Kathleen (Kenneth) Chapple, Kelly Peterson and Karla Smith. Together they have thirteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Doug was preceded in death by both of his parents; his brother, Kenneth Jackson; and his sister, Judith Menier. He is survived by two nieces, Sherry Kerris and Jennifer Shandy; three nephews, Dr. Brian Jackson, James Menier and Michael Carter. Doug graduated from East Detroit High School, and the Detroit Business Institute, thereafter becoming a CPA and Realtor, with his own practice in Palos Verdes Peninsula, Calif. He served in the National Guard and the US Air Force during the Korean War. Doug also served with The Gideons International and the Kairos Prison Ministry. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm. to 8:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2015 in the Ramon Chapel at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cathedral City. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 81500 Miles Avenue, Indio, CA 92201. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, in Cathedral City following the church service honoring Jesus Christ of Nazareth, his Lord and Savior. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Trinity Lutheran Church and Child Development Center, and Mercy Ministries, Nashville, Tenn. Doug shared his love of God and faith in Jesus Christ with his family and others. Now the Lord has provided the gift of eternal life. Praise the Lord!
