Dorothy Helen Royal

Dorothy Helen Royal, born on October 2, 1933, in Chicago, Illinois and was taken by the Lord on November 20, 2013 at the age of 80. Dorothy will be remembered as a loving mother, wife and a very sweet soul who had time for everyone. She grew up in a large Italian family with two brothers and three sisters. She loved big band music and dancing in the ballrooms of Chicago. After graduating from Marshall High School in 1951. She met her husband Donald in 1954 and was happily married for 57 years. Dorothy spent several years working at Allstate Insurance while her husband served in the army in France during the Korean war and was instrumental in saving for their first home. An avid decorator, she designed interiors in Illinois, Westlake, Westwood and Palm Springs. Dorothy loved her family and devoted her life caring for all of them. She loved camping and travel, Italy being her favorite country to visit. Dorothy is survived by her husband Donald, children Suzanne and David, Son-in-law Daniel, grandchildren Kiley and Macall daughter-in-law Kara and grandchildren Jude and Tatum.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30 at Forest Lawn, Hollywood Hills, California in the Old North Church at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow.
