Dorothy Jane Eberhart

May 12, 1924 — May 6, 2013

Dorothy Jane Eberhart was born on May 12, 1924 in Grandfield, Oklahoma to Holmes Gains and Ethel Rhea. She was also welcomed by her 2 older sisters Anna Lois (Upton) and Jo Neal (Brown). After graduating from High School in Wichita Falls, TX, Dorothy moved to California. She worked at Van de Kamps Bakery when in the Fall of 1943 she caught the eye of 'Jimmy' (Aaron James Eberhart). They were married on May 16, 1943. After Jimmy returned from serving with the Navy in World War II they settled in Burbank, CA. On June 26, 1946 they were blessed with their 1 and only child Barbara Jane. She was loved and cherished by both Jimmy and Dorothy. Barbara married Jeff Quint and they were blessed with 2 children, Matthew and Erin. They were spoiled by "Papa and Gammie" in numerous ways. They were always present at sporting events to watch and cheer them on and never missed a birthday or holiday. Matt and Erin also enjoyed many slumber parties with Papa and Gammie too. Dorothy's beloved husband passed away on January 28, 2000 after they had been married for more than 56 years. A few years later both Matt (to Michelle Reyes) and Erin (to Joe Bevan) were married and Gammie was blessed with great granchildren in 2005. They were her life and just as she loved and spoiled Matt and Erin she now loved and spoiled Connor (Quint) and Bridget (Bevan). A little while later Boden (Bevan) and Nolan (Quint) came along and then finally Louise (Bevan) in 2010. There are too many pictures to even count as she held and cuddled babies and received kisses from messy toddlers and growing school children. She passed away peacefully on May 6, 2013 in Orange, CA with Barbara and Jeff by her side.

There was no one like Dorothy. A true servant of the Lord, taking care of numerous loved ones while they were ill. She will be greatly missed but we feel so blessed that she had such a full and abundant life. And even more so that she made her family her number one priority. She taught us things that will be passed on for generations and for that we are so grateful.
