Doris V. Edwards

Doris V. Edwards, 96, of Palm Desert, CA, died January 4, 2013 in Palm Desert, CA. She moved to Palm Desert in 1978 and has been a resident of The Fountains at the Carlotta for a number of years. She was born on March 13, 1916 in New York City to Arthur W. and Elsie C. Spolander of Queens Village, NY. She was a graduate of Adelphi University of Garden City, NY and had a Master's Degree in Business Administration from New York University. She served in the Navy during World War II and the Korea Police Action and was in the Naval Reserve for 29 years, ending with the rank of Commander. Her career included positions with the American Bankers Association in New York City, Assistant Administrative Analyst with the County of Los Angeles, and Senior Personnel Analyst with the Los Angeles City School District. Following her retirement and move to Palm Desert, CA, she worked at the Eisenhower Hospital as a lifetime volunteer. While a resident of The Carlotta she spent considerable time doing volunteer work. She is a member of the Religious Science Church of the Desert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Judson Edwards. Survivors include her stepson, Allen Ponsford Edwards and two step grandchildren, Allen and Carrie. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn Mortuary of Cathedral City, CA. The family suggests donations be sent to the Desert Samaritans for the Elderly.
