Donald L. "don" Sargent

Donald L. "Don" Sargent, age77 and longtime resident of Plaistow, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Pleasant Valley Nursing Home in Derry, NH.

Don was born on May 18, 1938 in Haverhill, MA the son of the late Lewis and Avis Sargent. He was raised in Plaistow and educated at the Pollard School and graduated from the Haverhill Trade School, Class of 1956.

He had worked as a machinist for Process Engineering / Chart in Plaistow for many years. He had worked for some time as the Plaistow Animal Control Officer. Don had also worked for the water line department in Plaistow. He was a volunteer fireman in Plaistow from 1977-1993 and was active on the Rescue Squad.

An avid outdoorsman, Don was the past president of the Plaistow Fish & Game Club from 1995-2002. He was past president of the NH Trapper's Association and past president of the Granite State Bow Hunters. He was a life member of the NRA. Besides hunting and fishing, Don also enjoyed keeping honey bees and doing small engine repair.

Don will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who was always "on the go", and was very involved in all Plaistow Town activities.

Don is survived by his wife, Judith A. (Chase) Sargent of Derry, NH. His daughter, Linda J. Danahy of Plaistow, NH. His sons; Daniel G. Sargent and wife, Tina of Derry, NH, Dennis G. Sargent and wife, Melissa of Glendale, AZ and Michael G. Sargent and fiancé, Deanna Connors of Derry, NH. His sister, Carolyn Steer and husband, Roger of Plaistow, NH. His brothers; Russell Sargent and wife, Marcia of Plaistow, NH and Edward Sargent of Chester, NH. Three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive him. Don was pre-deceased by his son-in-law, Michael Danahy in 2003.

Family and friends are invited to attend Don's Life Celebration on Thursday, September 10, 2015 from 4-7 PM at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street (Rt. 121A), Plaistow, NH 03865. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home at 7:15 PM. Burial will take place at a later date.
