Donald Rickard

Donald Alfred Rickard, former resident of Lahaina, Hawaii now residing in La Quinta CA passed away on August 12, 2023. He was 99 years old, born on July 2, 1924. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Frances Namanu Rickard (Neizman), Daughter, Robyn (Richard) De Leonardis, Sons, Milton(Marianne) Rickard and Jed (Urdene)Rickard.  He also leaves six grandchildren, Corey (Kristan) Delatori, Keola (Gina) Delatori, Kaholo (Chauna) Rickard, Noelani Rickard, Jena and Taylor Rickard and six great-grandchildren, Logan, Kaiwi, Paisley Rickard, Kekoa, Mia and Lola Delatori.

Donald attended Kamehameha 111 School and Lahainaluna High School in Lahaina.  He started work at the Lahaina Pioneer Mill in 1940 at the age of 16. He was active in the ILWU Local 142 serving as an officer, committee member and full time business agent for 10 years. He was a member of the International executive board and sugar negotiation committee. In 1971 he was named an overseas labor observer delegate to Chile. Donald was a member of the Hawaii Employee Relations Board, County Civil Service Commission and Board of Water Supply and other county and state advisory board and commissions. Donald retired after a 37 year career with Pioneer Mill Company as a steam generation operator.

Viewing and celebration of life will be held Saturday, August 19, 2023, from 10am-2pm at Forest Lawn Mortuary, 51990 Jackson Street, Coachella. In lieu of flowers and/or gifts, monetary offerings will be accepted as we make appropriate contributions to Lahaina.
