Donald Mumper, 85
Recent resident of Redlands, and former long-term resident of La Canada Flintridge, Donald Mumper died in his sleep on Saturday, November 24, at his residence in Yucaipa.
Don was born in 1927, in Akron Ohio to James and Laura Mumper.
Donald grew up in Akron, Ohio, joined the Merchant Marines at age 17, and then upon turning 18, joined the US Navy, serving during WWII aboard the USS Columbus, where he was part of the shakedown cruise. During his tour of duty, Donald toured Japan, China, and Hawaii, as he proudly served his country. He was honorably discharged in California, where he met his wife of 50 years, Irene Mumper. They married in 1952, and settled in West Los Angeles where they raised three children. The move from West L.A. to La Canada kept him in closer proximity to his workplace at Ralph M. Parsons in Pasadena. He retired from Ralph M. Parsons Corp. as Procurement manager.
Don was predeceased by his wife Irene 10 years ago, and is now survived by his three children; sons, James and Timothy and daughter Lauri and their spouses. He also leaves behind his 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Jeffrey, Amanda, Devin, Joseph and Christopher, 2 step-grandchildren, Richard and Melissa, and three great grandchildren. He is also survived by his older brother William Mumper.
Services will be held at 2:30pm on Saturday the First of December, Little Church of the Flowers at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale, CA.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to one of the
following:
SKIDETTES, 215 Foothill Blvd., La Canada, CA 91011; (donation by check)
GOT YOUR BACK www.gybsd.org; or (online donation)
Kid Care INTERNATIONAL www. kidcare.org. (online donation)
Skidettes is one of the programs that Mom and Dad worked with, hands-on, years ago.
GOT YOUR BACK and Kid Care International are children's relief causes, one being local and the other being international. Both Mom & Dad supported children's relief causes, so we think it's fitting to choose these organizations for memorial.
