Donald George Chadd, age 84, died at home peacefully after a long hard battle with pancreatic cancer on December 22, 2014, in Mission Hills, California.

Donald is survived by his wife, Vera Mae Chadd of 65 years, son Jeffery David Chadd, daughter-in-law Nancy Lynn Chadd of Ukiah, daughter Nancy Kaye Segal, son-in-law Dr. Stuart Segal of Santa Barbara, sister's Leah Ray Chadd of Texas, Judy Claire Palladino of Oakhurst and brother Charles Chadd of Texas.

Donald was a loving grandfather of Casey Chadd (wife Bethany) of Phoenix, Arizona, Tim Chadd of Santa Barbara, Chad Segal, of San Francisco, Andrew Segal of Santa Barbara, and Maddy Segal of Santa Barbara. He was also blessed with three precious great grandchildren; Wyatt, Cooper and Lainey Chadd, of Phoenix Arizona. Donald was preceded in death by his mother Hazel (Chadd) Martinez, father Claire Chadd and his brother Raymond Chadd.

Donald was born in Omaha, Nebraska on August 12, 1930, to Claire and Hazel Chadd. Don found love with Vera Mae Chadd his high school sweet heart whom he married in Omaha March 10, 1949. Donald brought Vera to California in 1950 and was drafted into the Marine Corps in 1952 serving his country until 1954 which included a tour of duty in the Korean War. After his discharge, they set up house hunting together and bought their home in Mission Hills, California where they raised their family. Don always said he wanted a boy and a girl which was exactly what he got. Jeffery was born in l955 and Nancy in l957. Don loved music and dancing. He and his wife Vera moved across the dance floor effortlessly and beautifully. One of his favorite singers was Frank Sinatra, and in fact, he named his daughter Nancy after one of his favorite Frank Sinatra's song;" Nancy with the Laughing Face."
Don worked many years with Coca Cola, and Orowheat Bakeries. He retired in 1998 and took up Golf, which was his passion. He became a Senior Champion and Golf Marshall at El Cariso Golf Course. He had many good times with all his golf buddies and playing in many tournaments.
Family always came first with Don. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with all his heart.
Don cared for his wife Vera when she was stricken with cancer twice. This past year of his illness Vera never left his side.

Don also known as "Papa" will be remembered for his wit, laugh, generosity, and telling it like it is! All of his grandchildren admired Papa for his strength, sense of humor, and kind heart.Donald's blue eyes, shaved head, melodious voice, and big smile will be missed by all who knew him.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
