Donald R. Anderson

Donald R. Anderson, 85, of Palm Desert, Calif., passed away peacefully on April 29, 2014, surrounded by family and saying, "I have no regrets". He was born in Hoquiam Wash. on October 23, 1928 and grew up in Seattle, Wash., graduating from Ballard High School. Don served in the U.S. Army until 1948 and the Air Force Reserve until 1954. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1953 in Business, where he met his wife of 63 years, Iris Anderson. He became a Certified Public Accountant working his early years at Price Waterhouse before finishing the remainder of his successful accounting career at Farmers Insurance. He was a devoted husband and family man and gave back to the desert community volunteering as a docent with the Living Desert and as a reading volunteer at Oasis Elementary School. Don was a member of Hope Lutheran Church and Indian Wells Rotary. He loved life, his family, golf, fishing, marathon running, his fruit trees, and his travel in 81 countries. He is survived by his wife, Iris Anderson; daughters, Karen Carroll, Susan Moritz, Gayle Coniglio; son, Brian Anderson; his brother, Alan Anderson; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. A private memorial is being held at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cathedral City, with his internment at Riverside National Cemetery.
