In loving memory of Donald (Don) Abangan, born in Waialua, Hawaii, a cherished soul who graced this world from March 19, 1936, until his peaceful departure on February 20, 2026, in Torrance, California. Born during a time of great change, Don navigated life with an extraordinary kindness and a witty spirit that endeared him to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Don dedicated himself to a remarkable career as a Real Estate Broker, where his thoughtful nature and keen insight shone brightly, helping countless individuals find their dream homes. His commitment to excellence was matched only by the genuine care he extended to his clients, fostering relationships that often transformed into lasting friendships.
A United States Army Veteran, Don carried a sense of honor and duty that enriched the lives of those around him. He approached each day with a loving heart and a welcoming demeanor, qualities that defined his engagement with family, friends, and the community alike. He possessed a deep wisdom that spoke not only in words but also through his actions; his humor and grace remained a comforting presence to all who sought his guidance.
Don is lovingly remembered by his current wife, Florence Takashima Abangan, and his children—Calvin (Rhonda) Abangan, Debbie (Mike) Barragan, and Kathy (Brett) Nunes—who carry forth the values he instilled in them. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Gavrielle Garcia, Brianna, Matthew, and Joshua Abangan, as well as Tyler, Kimie, and Drew Barragan, and Brayden and Gavin Nunes, alongside Kailee, Elise, Jacob, and Luke Takashima. He will be forever adored by his great-granddaughter, Malia Jade Abangan.
His memory is also rich with the love of his sisters: Gertrude Dellatan, Anita Loando Acohido, and Winona Chang, who mourn the loss of a brother who exemplified love and compassion.
Don was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Kim Maeda Abangan, and cherished daughter, Coleen Kim Garcia, along with his brothers, Sonny and Rudy Abangan and numerous other dear family members. Their absence is felt deeply, yet their memories entwine with Don’s spirit, weaving a tapestry of love that will endure.
In recognition of a life well-lived, a Funeral Service will be held on March 19, 2026, at 1:30 PM at the Church of the Recessional, Forest Lawn - Glendale situated at 1712 South Glendale Avenue, Glendale, CA 91205. Aloha attire welcomed.
May the gentle spirit of Don Abangan continue to enlighten the paths of those he leaves behind, his legacy resonating through the love he so freely shared. He was truly a beacon of kindness in this world, and while his presence will be deeply missed, his love will forever illuminate our hearts.
