Dolores Louise Young, 86, born on August 7, 1930, in Rochester, New York, passed away February 24, 2017. She resided in Cupertino, California, at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.

Dolores was a loving, caring wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Dolores Louise Young was born in Rochester, New York on August 7, 1930; and passed away in Cupertino, California on February 24, 2017 at the age of 86 ½ years young.

Dolores and her family—father Theodore, mother-Viola, brother-Ted, sisters Dorothy and Audrey--moved from New York to California in 1942 as her father was an officer in the Navy and was stationed in Long Beach, California.

While raising three children-- Donald White, Dusty White and Bryan Lesher--she attended Long Beach City College enrolling in the Nursing Program, becoming a Licensed Vocation Nurse (LVN) for two years. She married Robert Young February 20, 1960 and they had a daughter a year later, Carol Buchanan. They enjoyed square dancing, which is how they met, water skiing and camping together.

Dolores then became a stay at home mom, ran a day care service for 22 years in her home and volunteered for and was active with many different organizations: Village View Elementary School—school aide-PTA President, Girl Scout Leader, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Huntington Beach, VFW Women's Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Y's Men Group, Redeemer Lutheran Church-Leisure World in Seal Beach, CA. She was honored with Volunteer of the Year Award 1997 in Huntington Beach, CA.

Her hobbies were doing arts and crafts, being a wedding coordinator at her church in Huntington Beach, CA and many projects for others. She eventually learned to enjoy being on the computer, her iPad and keeping in touch with family and friends through Facebook.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Young, father Theodore Brown Sr., Mother Viola Brown. Survived by four children Donald White, Dusty White, Bryan Lesher and Carol Buchanan, 10 grandchildren and 32 great and 16 great-great grandchildren and one great-grand dog, Archer.

Dolores was recently described as "having the heart of a lion" and will be missed by many.
