September 19, 1935 — January 14, 2013

Delores (Dee) Nirenberg passed on to be with the Lord in Palm Springs, California on January 14, 2013. Delores was born September 19, 1935 in Mt. Vernon, Washington to Conrad and Gladys Tonneson. She grew up in Renton, Washington where she attended Renton Jr. and Sr. High Schools. After completing high school, Delores moved to Hollywood, California where she worked at NBC before leaving to attend college in Norway. Upon her return from Norway, Delores lived and worked in San Francisco and it is there she met her husband, Robert Nirenberg. They made their home in Santa Monica where Delores had ten wonderful years with Robert before his death. She worked those years in California in art galleries and doing interior design. In later years Delores moved to Seattle to be closer to and care for her aging parents. She worked there for the Seattle Port Authority. After the passing of her parents, Delores retired in Palm Springs, where she enjoyed the warm weather and her little dogs. Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and her parents. She is survived by her aunts, Loretta Rodvelt and Clara Hansen; uncle, Willard Hansen and many cousins in Washington State. She is also survived by her three "sisters"-- friends, Nadine, Lavonne and Dona. Highlights of every day for Delores were listening to the TV preacher, Charles Stanley in the early morning and having breakfast at Rick's with several friends at 6 am. A breakfast gathering to remember Delores will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 7:00 am at Rick's Restaurant, 1973 North Palm Canyon Drive, Palm Springs. There will be a graveside service for Delores at the Bow Cemetery in Bow, Washington followed by a memorial luncheon. The date, time and place will be announced later. Memorials can be made to your favorite charity.
