Dixie Kae Ellison

Dixie Kae Ellison passed away at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, CA on Jan.21, 2014 at the age of 67. She was born in Centerville, Iowa on June 13, 1946 to Ray and Lorene Tubaugh. A resident of Liberty, Missouri, her and her husband James had been frequenting Palm Springs for the past several years to escape the cold, relax and enjoy their shared favorite activities; golf, the movies, the slots and BINGO. A Mani/pedicurist by trade, Dixie had recently moved her business to the comfort of her own home where her long time clients/dear friends continued to enjoy Dixie's ever-open ear and unrivaled "gift for gab"; sharing a lot of laughs along the way. A loving wife, mother, sister, daughter and grandmother, she was proceeded in death by her father Ray Tubaugh. Dixie is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, James Ellison; daughter, Jamie Wheeler; son Brit Ellison; sisters, Donna Pfannebecker, Drenda Topp, Devanna Jackson; brother, Darrin Tubaugh; grandchildren, Tyler and Tanner; and mother, Lorene Tubaugh. She was cremated per her life-long request on Jan. 28, 2014 and her ashes were scattered on Feb. 3, 2014 (the day before her daughter Jamie's birthday) in the Palm Springs mountains by her husband James, and son, Brit in attendance.
A memorial gathering of friends and family is to commence on April 5th at 2:00 pm at the Glenaire Clubhouse in Glenaire/Liberty, Mo: 309 Smiley Rd., Glenaire, Mo. 64068.
A special thanks to the nurses and Doctors of the Desert Regional Medical Center's ICU-Trauma Ward for their care and kindness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude's Medical Hospitals.
