Born in Reno, Nevada, on January 5, 1951, to Augusto and Elena Podesta, Dionigi was raised in Grass Valley, CA where he developed the strong work ethic, resilience, and deep appreciation for family and the outdoors, which would define his life. Throughout his life, he proudly worked as a sawyer, cattle rancher, shipping & receiving supervisor, and equipment operator. His hands were shaped by years of hard work, and his dedication to both his craft and his family were evident in everything he accomplished.
Dionigi also found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved fishing, camping, BBQing and most of all, spending time with those he loved. His warmth and sense of humor created memories that will be cherished by all who loved him.
Above all else, Dionigi’s greatest pride was his family. He is survived by his loving sons, Dionigi Guiseppe Podesta Jr. and Paul Elbridge Podesta; his sister, Rosa Lewis; his beloved niece, Lenore, his nephew, Arley Lewis his great-nephew, Andrew Arnold and great-niece Brittany Burns. He was also a proud grandfather to Guiseppe, Zachary, Dylan, Emily, Joshua and Daniel, each of whom will carry forward his legacy of strength, perseverance, and devotion to family.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Augusto and Elena Podesta; his cherished uncle, Fred “Zio” Podesta; his brother, Hank Podesta and his dear son, Guiseppe Podesta. His family finds comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who went before him.
A celebration of Dionigi’s remarkable life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor the man he was.
