Diana Barbara Dolores Karády, a resident of Glendora, CA, died unexpectedly on October 9, 2016 at the age of 64.
Barbara is survived by her children, Bari Blake Wood (Samuel Wood) and Jacob Blake (Jaime Blake); her grandchildren, Theodore Wood, Jayden Blake and Isabella Molteni; and her sisters, Angela Gombos and Carmen Karády. She is preceded in death by her brother, Laszlo Karády Jr.; her sister, Daisy Karády; her father, Dr. Laszlo Karády; and her beloved mother, Angela Bottkos Karády.
Barbara was born in Los Angeles on May 11, 1952 to Laszlo and Angela Karády. On May 6, 1980 and September 3, 1981 respectively, she became a mother to her two children, who were the most important part of her life. Barbara graduated from Cal Poly, Pomona in 1989 with a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science. Initially, she worked for YWCA - WINGS Shelter as an advocate for battered women, a cause she felt very strongly about. For the past 24 years, she has worked for Valencia Heights Water Company and was to retire as the executive administrator in May 2017.
Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved traveling to spend time with her family in Detroit, Michigan and Roseville, California. She truly enjoyed the people she worked with and often bragged about being "semi-retired." Barbara loved her nieces, nephews and stepchildren dearly. She adored spending time with her sisters, Angie and Carmen, and anyone who had the pleasure of seeing them together knows what a special bond they shared. Barbara was a great friend and touched the lives of all who she came into contact with. She will be deeply missed.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina, California. Pastor Laurence M. Wood will officiate. In lieu of flowers, please send condolences and contributions to her grandchildren's education fund to 116 Arundel Court, Roseville, CA 95747, in care of Jacob Blake.
