DEVYN LYLE CORTINA, 19, of Apple Valley, CA passed away on Saturday June 8, 2013, as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Devyn was born December 14, 1993, in Los Angeles, CA. Devyn was raised by his loving paternal grandparents, Arturo and Luz Cortina, who fostered in him a love for God and respect for others. Devyn's grandparents laid the foundation for the hardworking, dedicated, kind, humble, and always humorous young man that Devyn grew into.

Devyn attended Apple Valley schools, graduating from Apple Valley High School with honors in 2012. Devyn was honored as the College Board Distinguished Hispanic Scholar (2010-2012) and with the College Board Advanced Placement Scholar (2012). Devyn was a member of the Apple Valley High School's Associated Student Body and worked as a tutor for students at Apple Valley Middle School and Phoenix Academy. Devyn was recognized as one of the top students of his graduating class and earned an academic scholarship to California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.

While in high school, Devyn found his passion for automotive design and mechanics. He aspired to revolutionize the automobile industry with his plans for the next generation's automotive engines. Devyn was pursuing his Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at Cal Poly Pomona and was a member of The Formula Society of Automotive Engineers.

Devyn is survived by his parents; his brother, Matthew and his sister, Amber. He also leaves behind his maternal grandparents, Rosendo and Laura Trejo, of La Puente, and his paternal grandmother, Luz Cortina of Apple Valley, several aunts, uncles and cousins. He is also survived by his girlfriend, Marisofi Molina, and his best friend, Justin Hartzler, of Apple Valley.

The funeral and burial service will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at 11:00am at Forest Lawn Memorial Park's Church of our Heritage in Covina Hills, CA. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, California. Calling hours will be 8:00am – 5:00pm (Monday - Friday). To contact the family directly, please call (760) 954-5309.
