Dennis Eton Wollan

Dennis Eton Wollan, 72, a resident of Los Angeles for 42 years, died suddenly on Saturday, December 14, 2013 while on his daily walk in Griffith Park.

Denny was born August 4, 1941 in St. Paul, MN, to Louise and Laurin Wollan. He grew up in Springfield, Illinois where he met Judy, his wife of 49 years. After graduating from Springfield High School, he went on to receive degrees from Harvard College and Stanford Law School.

Denny served as an officer in the United States Army, including a year of service in Vietnam during which he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. Denny practiced law briefly, before embarking on a 40-year career as a financial advisor that continued until the time of his death. But above all else, he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents,and his sister, Jackie Gibbons. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Kathryn Wollan of Iowa City, IA and New Orleans, LA; son, Denny, Jr. (Tricia) of Minnetonka, MN; grandchildren, Remi and Lily Wollan: sister, Penny Wollan-Kriel (Jack Kriel) of Springfield, IL; brothers, Larry (Betsy) of Richmond, VA, and Otis (Jane Mulder) of Colfax, CA.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30pm on Monday, December 23, 2013 at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills.
