Denisa Herrera

August 20, 1946 — August 3, 2016

Denisa Herrera passed away at the age of 69, at Kaiser Hospital in Anaheim, California on Wednesday, August 3, 2016. Arrangements are under the direction of Forest Lawn, Cypress, California.

Denisa was born on August 20, 1946, in Oaxaca, Mexico. She traveled to California as an independent young women looking for a better life. She lived in Hollywood, Santa Barbara, Long Beach, Aliso Viejo, and most recently in Mission Viejo, California.

She was a hard worker her whole life, starting at the age of 5, making dozens of tortillas on a large comal. In the many years that she worked, she had a variety of jobs which included: harvesting rice, housekeeping, being a nanny, owning her own business cleaning office buildings, working in a hospital with newborns, making pizzas for hungry Costco shoppers, driving all over Southern California (with a Thomas Guide) to conduct interviews for new mothers, and working at Goodwill. These are only some of the jobs she held during her adventurous life.

She was very passionate about praying for anyone (relative or stranger), even volunteering her time answering phones on a prayer line. She was a very generous woman who would open up her home to anyone. She would not only feed them, but also comfort and pray for them. She was well-known for giving advice, often unsolicited. Ultimately though, her grandchildren were her world, and she cared for them lovingly.

Many body shop owners are sad to see her pass on. We (Rick & Dave) can attest to the various fender benders over the years, as can anyone who had the experience of riding in the car with her. All joking aside, it is evident that the Lord loved and protected this tenacious little women.

Survivors include her husband, Manuel Herrera, and her sons, Rick & David, of Orange County.
