Deneen Vargas, 66, of Chino Hills, California, passed away on April 23, 2026.
Deneen was born on April 24, 1959. From a young age, she demonstrated dedication and excellence, attending a K–8 Christian school where she consistently earned honor roll recognition and maintained perfect attendance. She later attended Redondo Union High School, where she distinguished herself both academically and athletically. Deneen excelled in basketball, volleyball, and track and field, earning the honor of Most Valuable Senior Athlete in her final year. She also showcased her talents as an editor for the school newspaper, High Tide.
Continuing her education, Deneen attended El Camino Junior College, where she earned her Associate of Arts degree. She began her professional career at RCA in Torrance, where she met her husband, Rubin. After a short time, Deneen began working for Hughes Aircraft (now Raytheon) in El Segundo eventually transferring to Rancho Cucamonga when she and Rubin moved to Chino Hills. The two were married in November 1995, beginning a life together built on love and partnership. Together, they were proud to raise Rubin's 2 daughters, watching them grow into adulthood, marry, and later welcomed 7 grandchildren who themselves blessed Rubin and Deneen with 11 great grandchildren. As a parent and grandparent, she gave endlessly of her time, energy, and heart. She will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of her family.
Deneen was a friend, a mentor, and a light to all who knew her. She had a special bond with pets of all kinds, seeing them not just as companions, but as family. Whether it was a loyal dog, a curious cat, or a rascally rabbit, she offered patience, protection, and unconditional love to each of them.
Deneen’s legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the traditions she created, and the countless memories we will treasure forever. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that her love will continue to guide us.
Deneen is survived by her sisters, Karen Helmbrecht and Renee McMullen (Ron), stepbrother Mike Vasquez, stepdaughters, Ruby Vargas Lainez (Mauricio) and Theresa Vargas Aguirre (Sergio), along with 7 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rubin Vargas, father Mayo Jenkins, mother Vivian Jenkins Vasquez, stepfather Nicholas Vasquez, and brothers Mayo Jenkins and Gregg Jenkins.
