Plaistow, NH: Dena V. (DiPietro) Carbone, 103, a resident of Plaistow since 1985 and a former resident of Bradford and North Andover died on May 30, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Bisegna, Italy, daughter of the late Geremia and Geneoveffa (DiGiacomo) DiPietro, she moved to the United States at the age of three and was raised and educated in Haverhill. She attended Haverhill High School and graduated from the former Boston Trade School.

Mrs. Carbone worked on Newbury Street in Boston as a dressmaker and designer for many years before moving back to the Haverhill area where she established her residence and dress making studio on Chandler Street in Bradford. Mrs. Carbone moved to North Andover in 1967 and resided there for eighteen years before her move to Plaistow.

Mrs. Carbone later went on to attend the Montserrat College of Art in Beverly and was an accomplished and well-known artist in oils, watercolors, and pastels. A longtime member of the Greater Haverhill Art Association, she initiated an art workshop in 1982, which was located at the First Church of Christ in Bradford, serving as its director until 2011.

Mrs. Carbone was also an instructor in the Lifelong Learning Program at Northern Essex Community College and excelled in passing along her many years of experience in the art and dress designing fields to new generations of students. She was a longtime volunteer for the Community Action Program in Haverhill and served as its director for several years.

A member of Holy Angels Parish and St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, she served on the Ladies Guild of Holy Angles Church for many years. She was also a member of the Soroptimist Club of Haverhill and the Professional and Business Women's Club of Haverhill. Mrs. Carbone enjoyed gardening and traveling across the globe. Most of all, she enjoyed people and being hostess to family and friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Carbone in 1997, and is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald R. and Joanne Carbone of East Kingston, NH, and Raymond J. Carbone, Jr. and his wife Rose Wingo of Steuben, ME, two sisters-in-law, Verna Carbone of Plaistow, and Terry DiPietro of Haverhill, four grandchildren, Christine Carbone, Steven Carbone, Andrea Comeau, and Jesse Carbone, two step-grandchildren, Kristen Carbone and Chek Wingo, and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Medina Arsenault and Victoria Rossetti.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Mrs. Carbone's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. Her funeral will begin on Friday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, 8 Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, NH.
