Delia Effie Burton Bidaure

September 5, 1929 — December 7, 2024

Delia Effie Burton Bidaure, lovingly known as Delia, passed away on December 7, 2024, in Long Beach, California. Born on September 5, 1929, in Santa Mesa, Philippines, she was the cherished daughter of Simeon Burton and Gliceria Hintapan. Delia was the youngest of three children, joining her siblings Sonny and Juanita in a close-knit family that emphasized love and support.

At just 16 years old, Delia found her true love in Andres Bidaure, marrying him on October 27, 1945. Their union flourished for 25 beautiful years until the sudden passing of Andres on June 1, 1970. In the wake of his death, Delia made the courageous decision to migrate to the United States in the early 1970s, with the unwavering determination to provide her children with a brighter future.

Throughout her life in Long Beach, Delia became an integral member of the St. Anthony Parish Community. She selflessly volunteered at school and church events, embodying the spirit of service. Delia also worked at AARP, where she dedicated her time until her retirement in 1996 at the age of 67. Even in retirement, her commitment to her community did not wane; she actively participated in various initiatives, including the Neighborhood Watch and keeping Daisy Lane clean and litter-free.

Delia was not only a devoted mother but also a loving grandmother. Her affection for her grandchildren was evident as she often took an active role in their care, providing them with guidance. As Alzheimer's began to take its toll on her mind, Delia's unwavering devotion to her family remained a testament to her strength and resilience.

Delia will be remembered fondly as a strong matriarch whose determination and love knew no bounds. She faced life's challenges with grace, ensuring her family was always supported and cared for. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind, as she is survived by her children: Ellen, Rosalinda (Fred deceased), Rosario, Brenda, Andres Jr. (Teresita), Lenore (Marvin), Alfred (deceased), Georgia, Gregorio, and Andrea. Her grandchildren, who brought immeasurable joy to her life, include Brenda, Ben (Maricel), Autumn (Muelu), Fatima, April (Henry), Apple (Rory), Ryan, Andrew, Celestine (Jay), Vinha (CJ), Raelord (Valerie), RJ, Nick, Malea, Marlene (Chandler), Arianne, and CJ. Additionally, she is survived by her great-grandchildren: Aira, Carmina, Kymora, Kainoa, Kava, Inara, Adalyn, Ethan, Tiana, Alayna, Angel, Camille, Lennox, Zayne, Carter, Grayson, Lana, Talei, Reagan, DJ, Aidyn, Micah, Levi, Lyla and Ares.
