Debra A. (cormier) Straus

Plaistow, NH: Debra A. (Cormier) Straus, 62, of Brentwood and a former resident of Plaistow from 1989 until 2015 died on July 4, 2016 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Born in Cambridge, MA, daughter of the late Armand Joseph and Isabel (Perrier) Cormier, she was raised in Billerica, MA and graduated from Billerica High School with the Class of 1971. Mrs. Straus went on to attend the Berkley School of Music.

As a young woman, Mrs. Straus was employed as a keypunch operator for many years. Most recently, she was a homemaker and operated an in-house childcare center.

An accomplished artist and musician, Mrs. Straus played the drums, organ, and guitar. She was also an artist in all mediums.

She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Kelli A. Nicholson and her husband James of Amesbury, Heidi A. Straus of East Longmeadow, MA, a brother, Ted Cormier and his wife Genevieve of Medford, MA, two sisters, Loretta Sweeney of Chelmsford, MA, and Diane DiGiovanni and her husband Arthur of Lowell, MA, her former husband, Carl Straus of Peabody, MA, and several nieces, nephews, and one uncle.

Relatives and friends may call on Friday, July 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH.
