Hampstead, NH: Dean C. Howard, a lifelong resident of Hampstead, died Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at Colonial Poplin Nursing Home, Fremont.

Born in Haverhill, Massachusetts, son of the late Frank E. and Beatrice L. (Buttrick) Howard, he was raised and educated in Hampstead schools graduating from Hampstead High School with the Class of 1956.

Working as a carpenter and builder for all of his life, Mr. Howard owned and operated Dean C. Howard Construction. He was a well- known builder of hundreds of homes and commercial buildings in the southern New Hampshire area for over fifty years. He also operated Cabot Real Estate and DCH Inc. for several years. He and his late wife "Fina" were also involved in the restoration and refurbishing of historical homes and buildings in Hampstead.

An active member of the Town of Hampstead, he was a longtime member of the Hampstead Congregational Church and the Hampstead Volunteer Fire Department. He also served the town as a former Building Inspector, and Fence Viewer, a selectman and member of the Board of Adjustment,
the Historic District Commission and the Highway Safety Committee, and member and past chairman of the Planning Board. During the 225th Anniversary celebration of the Town of Hampstead, both he and his wife represented the town at the official visit to Hampstead, England. The Hampstead Town Report was dedicated to him three different times, most recently in 2012.
Mr. Howard was also a founding member of the Hampstead Ski Club and Hampstead Highlights Hot Rod Club. He was an avid skier and golfer and Stock Car racing enthusiast. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the White Mountains and NASCAR races at Daytona Beach, Florida.

Married to his high school sweetheart, Ruthena B. "Fina" (Butler) Howard for fifty-six years until her death last September, he will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie J. and Robert Knox of Hampstead, three sons and daughters-in-law, Eric D. and Beth Howard of Chester, Christopher L. and Lorrie-Ann Howard of Hampstead, and Dean C. Jr. "DJ" and Jennifer Howard of Hampstead, his devoted brother Frank C. Howard of Hampstead, ten grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Life Celebration to be held on Monday, September 21, 2015 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Brookside Chapel & Funeral Home, 116 Main St., Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will take place on Tuesday, September 22, at 1 P.M. at the Hampstead Congregational Church, Main St., Hampstead.
