Lakewood

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of David Stoltz, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and cherished member of his community, who departed this life on May 21, 2026, in Lakewood, California. Born on September 17, 1949, in San Antonio, Texas, David’s journey was marked by dedication, love, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew him.

David’s remarkable life was built upon a foundation of unwavering kindness, warmth, and humor. Known affectionately to all who loved him as “Davey,” he was a man of great respect and affection; qualities that made his presence a true blessing in the lives of family and friends. His personality shone brightly: kind and welcoming, lovable, funny yet deeply respectful, he was both a beacon of joy and a refuge of compassion.

A proud graduate of Long Beach Poly High School, David realized his dream career in law enforcement, serving with honor as a special agent. This vocation was not merely a profession but a calling through which he demonstrated courage, integrity, and steadfast commitment. His professional achievements stood as a testament to his character and dedication.

David’s heart, however, belonged most sincerely to his family. His proudest accomplishments were the loving support and provision he gave to his wife, Linda Stoltz, and his children: Danny Boxley, Shalena Macias, Shelby Diaz, and Cheryl Folds. He was also a devoted father-in-law to Victor Diaz and Thomas Kendall Folds Jr., and an adoring grandfather and great-grandfather, with 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who were precious to him beyond measure. The bond he shared with his siblings; Linda Nieto and Daniel Stoltz; and his brother-in-law, William "Bill" MacAlpine, further enriched his life. As well, he lovingly remembered those family members who preceded him, including his father David D. Stoltz, mother Mary Stoltz, daughter Shawn Stoltz, son-in-law Roberto Macias, granddaughter Abigail Macias, and sister-in-law Kathy Stoltz.

Beyond his professional and familial roles, David was a man of varied passions and interests. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life: gracefully fishing by quiet waters, camping under the stars, traveling to new places, sightseeing, and exploring the wonders of the world with a curious and gentle heart. Family gatherings were particularly dear to him, where he delighted in sharing stories, reminiscing on treasured memories, and playfully goofing around with those he held dear. His culinary skills were legendary among his circle; he especially enjoyed barbecuing and preparing meals that united loved ones around the table and fostered warm fellowship.

David’s life came to a sudden and unexpected close, yet the legacy of his kindness, strength, and love endures. Those who knew him will carry forward the memory of his gentle laughter, his steady support, and his enduring faithfulness to family and friends.
