Plaistow, NH: David A. Nye, 56, a resident of Plaistow for most of his life, died at home following a long illness on February 13, 2013 surrounded by his family.
Born in Haverhill, MA, the son of the late Francis and Mary Rose (Sweeney) Nye, he attended Pollard School in Plaistow and graduated from Timberlane Regional High School with the Class of 1974. He attended New Hampshire Institute of Technology where he received his associate’s degree in engineering. Mr. Nye was a self-employed construction builder and project manager.
A former member of Timberlane Athletic Council and Plaistow Recreation Commission, he was the founder of the Timberlane Flag Football League. Mr. Nye enjoyed coaching several sports teams over the years, including the Timberlane Tornadoes Football Team, the Southern New Hampshire Softball Team, and the Plaistow Little League Baseball Team. He also formerly served as the Commissioner of Timberlane Babe Ruth League and as the coach of the Boys and Girls Timberlane Youth Basketball League. He was also a co-owner of Ultimate Cheer and Training Center in Newton.
Mr. Nye is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dianne (Lovett) Nye, two sons and daughters, Jonathan A. Nye, Michael A. Nye, Amanda E. Nye, and Christina R. Nye, all of Plaistow; a brother and sister-in-law, James E. and Donna Nye of Raymond, NH; a sister, Kathleen J. Field of Seminole, FL; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, February 17, 2013 from 3 to 7 PM at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street Plaistow, NH. His funeral will be held on Monday at 8:45 AM from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Holy Angels Church of St. Luke the Evangelist Parish, Plaistow, NH. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery, Plaistow.
