David Jay Kobzev, 73, of Everett, Washington, passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.

Born on August 20, 1946 in Los Angeles, CA, the son of Lois Love (Kasareff) Kobzev and Michael Peter Kobzev, David grew up in Redondo Beach with his sister Patricia. He graduated from South High School in Torrance and enlisted in the Air Force, where his work as a cryptographer took him to London and beyond.

After his military service, he attended El Camino College in Torrance, CA and began working in insurance sales before moving to the Seattle area, where he raised his family and spent most of his adult life. The father of Anaka Whitney Kobzev and Michael Jay Kobzev, and stepfather to Branden Horiuchi, he was a devoted parent and very proud of his children.

Entrepreneurial by nature, David worked in a wide range of businesses, from owning and operating one of the nation's first MRI clinics in the 80s to restaurants, mortgage lending and hospitality. He had a lifetime passion for cars, and in his later years bought and sold classic automobiles.

He is survived by his daughter Anaka Whitney Kobzev of New York, NY; his son Michael Jay Kobzev of Duvall, WA; his stepson Branden Horiuchi of Brea, CA; and his sister Patricia Kobzev Danielson of Palos Verdes Estates, CA.

A memorial service was held at Forest Lawn of Glendale, CA on Tuesday, October 29 at 3pm.
