David Graham Hess, 58, of Atkinson, New Hampshire passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 unexpectedly at home.
David leaves behind his wife, Karen, the love of his life through 31 years of marriage. He also leaves behind his daughters, Laura Young (of Scott City, KS), Sarah Finney (of Kingston, NH), and Kayla Hess (of Atkinson, NH), as well as two son-in-law's, and three grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Susan Procario, and her husband, Pat, and their two sons, and his brother, Gordon Hess -- all from Pennsylvania.
A loving, family-oriented, hard-working, goofy, and incredibly special man, David will be remembered many ways and through many heartwarming and touching stories. His most important legacy, however, was his love of our Savior and Lord, whom he dedicated his life to and lived for each and every day.
In lieu of flowers, the family has come up with four organizations that they feel honor David's passions and commitment to helping people in the name of Christ. If you would like to donate in his name please consider:
Focus on the Family; www.focusonthefamily.com. In the early years of his marriage and fatherhood, David and Karen relied heavily on the family resources offered by Focus on the Family. Shortly before his death, he commented several times about how that organization impacted so positively his family life and how he owes them in many ways for the wisdom and guidance he received.
Mercy Ships; www.mercyships.org. David's daughter, Kayla, served last year on Mercy Ship's in Madagascar, and David loved the work that she and the rest of the Mercy Ships community did to give medical care to those in serious need and with no resources in Jesus' name.
The Nazarene Fund; www.mercyone.org. As ISIS is wreaking havoc on the world as a whole, the Nazarene Fund uses money to rescue Christian families that are targeted for execution. David was heartsick at the events playing out on the news and encouraged by the work done by this organization.
Kulea Villages; www.kuleavillages.org. David's wife Karen volunteers her time and energy to this organization which provides care for widows and orphans in desperate circumstances in East Africa.
Please continue to share your stories and memories of David. As we share these memories we rejoice in a life well lived, mourn a life gone too soon, and celebrate him finally meeting his precious Lord face to face.
