Dave passed away suddenly on the morning of Thursday, April 10 at his residence in Indio, California.
Dave, son of Alfred James Fowler and Janet Ohly Fowler was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 2, 1954. He lived a very happy and active childhood surrounded by family and friends in Moreland Hills, a suburb of Cleveland.
His determination and love for cars shined through at a young age when he saved enough money to buy himself a shiny, blue Camaro for his 16th birthday. He remained in Moreland Hills until he graduated from Orange High School in 1971.
After graduating high school, Dave pursued his love for automobiles. He attended General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan, where he graduated in 1978. As a result of his studies, he secured a life-long career at GM. This allowed him to travel and live in many different places, predominantly Los Angeles, Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland.
Beyond his professional engagements Dave enjoyed watching the sport of racing. He was so passionate about race cars and racing that he attended a school in Michigan to learn to race as well.
In 2008, after being asked by GM to transfer to Japan, he refused and chose to stay in Cleveland where he was born and raised. Luckily for Dave, this decision eventually allowed him to meet the love of his life, Mary. In 2010, he was persuaded by mutual friends to fly to the Philippines to meet Mary for the first time. After their first time meeting in person, he knew she was the one for him.
Dave and Mary got married in November of 2010 in Kent, Ohio. Afterwards, they moved to Florida for one year and eventually ended up in Indio, California. There they built their lives together and have lived in happiness ever since.
Dave is survived by his wife of 15 years, Mary, niece Christine Beaumier and her husband Matt, great nephews Tommy and Jake, sister-in-law Caryl Fowler. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn Memorial Parks & Mortuaries in Coachella, CA.
