David Gregory Eremic, born June 3, 1952, was called home by the Lord on August 14, 2018. He was preceded in death by his father Daniel Eremic, his mother Lydia Eremlc and brother Dan Eremic. David is survived by his sister Kimberly Eremic; aunt Marilyn (Michael) Nenadov; uncle Paul Korcok; and cherished cousins Karla Radovanov; Melinda (John) Zark; Kathleen Nenadov; Andrew (Lynette) Eremic; Jo Lynn (Douglas) Minnema; Timothy (Kelly) Taylor; Joan Azlen; Marilyn Lukich; Diane (Stasha) Branovacki and Shirley (Ted) Mohan. David's extended family include Jim and Michele Sturdivant and many dear friends. He was devoted "Uncle Dave" to Justin, Shane and Zachary Sturdivant, who were the joy of his llfe.
David was born in Detroit, Michigan and graduated from Lakeview High School in 1970. He graduated with a degree in Psychology from Wayne State University in 1975. Social work and public service became a serious calling for David, embodying the faith of his Christian upbringing. Beginning in the 1970s and throughout his professional career, David worked in the field of social work, specializing in child welfare, HIV/AIDS prevention and women's health.
He worked for San Bernardino County's Department of Public Health for 29 years until his retirement in 2014. As Supervising Social Worker, David's enthusiasm and dedication to Women's Health Section, California Children's Services (CCS), and Medical Therapy Units (MTUs) championed the programs and benefited the CCS and MTU families. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and his compassionate advocacy for patients and friends. In retirement, he enjoyed traveling, bicycling, music, reading and was an avid photographer.
David dedicated his lifework to helping others and will be greatly missed by family, his friends and the many lives he touched.
Visitation and a memorial service will be held Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Forest Lawn Church of our Heritage Chapel, 21300 Via Verde Drive, Covina, California, 91724. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David's memory to the National Kidney Foundation.
