Darryl George Hinson

Darryl George Hinson, affectionately known as George or Big George, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, at the age of 76, at home in his birthplace of Long Beach, California. George's journey through life was marked by his unwavering dedication to his career, family, and friends.

Born in 1949, George graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1967. Throughout his life, he developed a calm and jovial personality that endeared him to everyone he met. While he was a man of few words, his kindness and welcoming nature made it easy for friends to cherish their time with him. George had a love for Blues music, appreciated classic films, and enjoyed John Wayne movies, which he often watched alongside his family. His interests also included military history, playing cribbage, and lively debates with friends. 

In 1970, George married his beloved wife, Anita. Together, they raised a family that brought him immense pride and joy, undoubtedly his proudest accomplishment. He is survived by his loving wife, Anita; his daughter, Kimberly; his son, Darryl; and his grandson, Benjamin Diaz, who will carry his memory forward.

George was predeceased by his father, Evans Hinson; his mother, Grayce Hinson; and his sister, Darlinda Bodda. The bonds he formed with those around him will forever be cherished, and his memory will live on through the love and lessons he imparted to his family and friends.

A funeral service to honor George's life will be held on October 23, 2025, at 2:00 PM. The service will take place at Forest Lawn - Long Beach - Memorial Chapel, located at 1500 East San Antonio Drive, Long Beach, CA 90807.
