Darrell Robert Clark, of Garden Grove, California, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026.
Darrell was born on August 5, 1944, in Hannibal, Missouri, to Robert and Opal Clark and grew up in Burlington, Iowa. After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. Following his military service, he continued his education earning an A.A. degree in Orthotics/Prosthetics and completing an Orthotic Internship at Rancho Los Amigos Hospital. He was granted the title of “Certified Orthotist” after passing the certification exams in July 1971. He also earned a BS in Business Administration from California State University Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) in 1982.
He devoted 45 years to a distinguished career in Orthotics at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. He also shared his knowledge and passion as the Coordinator of Orthotic Education at CSUDH, and served as a member of national committees, helping to create standards of excellence for the orthotic profession.
After he retired, Darrell faced diagnoses of cancer and Parkinson’s disease with remarkable strength, grace, and perseverance. A man of deep faith, he loved Jesus and drew comfort and peace from his relationship with the Lord. Even in the face of illness, his faith remained steady, shaping the way he lived and the way he encouraged those around him.
Darrell found joy in spending time with family, woodworking, and volunteering. He served on the Board of Directors for the Pacific Youth Correctional Ministries which works to bring faith and hope to incarcerated youth. He will be lovingly remembered for his kindness, sharp wit, and the “dadisms” that became treasured family expressions. His faith, humor, and generosity of spirit left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Darrell is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Patricia; his son, Andrew Clark (wife Kalyn); his daughters, Laura Sieverman (husband Mike) and Kathryn Huckabey (husband Scott); his grandchildren, Noah Clark (wife Brighid), Samantha Lenners (husband Nick), Natalie Ellis (husband Ben), Texas Huckabey, and Curren Huckabey; his greatgrandchild, Luca Lenners; his sister, Kathryn Thomas (husband Robin), and nephew Adam Thomas (wife Marielle).
