Darlene Haley

Darlene Haley passed away at age 87 on November 12, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Cypress, CA.  The grave site service will be held on December 5, 2023 at 12:30 p.m.  A family/friends gathering will be held following the service at Douglas Haley's residence--3806 Petaluma Ave., Long Beach.

On October 05, 1936, Darlene Johanna Checkos was born to Theodore and Violet Checkos, in Los Angeles, California. She was the only girl in the family, having two brothers, Ted and Dean.  She lived most of her life in California, residing in multiple cities.  Darlene married Harold "Douglas" Haley and they raised four children--Terri, Douglas, Barry, and Sherrie.  There were many ups and downs over the years for the Haley family, but with perseverance came success.  When the children were grown, Darlene and Douglas moved to Nevada.  They spent several great vacations traveling with her brother, Dean and his wife, Mary, in their motor homes.   

Darlene was very creative.  She spent countless hours crafting.  Her natural talent and ability to express herself through art, from conception to completion, led to the online sales of her products through Etsy.  She also loved games.  Whether it was cards or dominoes, she had quite the competitive streak.  Many hours were also spent with her friends.  There were no extravagant events, just simple, quite gatherings. 

During her final years Darlene resided with her daughter, Sherrie, in Pahrump, Nevada.  Together, they were best friends.  Puzzle fanatics and travel buddies.  So many cherished moments of fun, camaraderie and road trips.
