Daniel Gamez
May 10, 1956 to June 11, 2024
Daniel was born and raised in Guanajuato, Mexico with a large happy family. His parents were Daniel Gamez and Maria De la Luz Garcia. In Mexico he attended La Universidad de Guanajuato and graduated with a degree in Pharmaceutical Biochemistry in 1980. He met the love of his life Nora while she was on vacation in Guanajuato in August of 1981. They fell in love from the moment they met. They dated long distance for two years and he decided to move to California in April of 1983 to marry Nora. He sold his 1972 blue Volkswagen Beetle when he left Mexico and used the money to buy Nora her wedding dress. Daniel and Nora were married on August 13th, 1983 in Monrovia, California at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Shortly after marrying, Daniel’s father became gravely ill. He returned to Mexico to be with him and he died on September 26th, 1983. Daniel experienced a difficult challenge to return to the United States. His visa had expired. Not knowing what to do, Nora’s family stepped in and helped get Daniel back to the US.
After a few years of marriage Daniel and Nora were blessed with their first baby boy, Daniel Gamez Jr. in January 1985. A year and half later they were blessed with a second son, David Gamez in August 1986. In August of 1989, Carlo Gamez was born, and their family was complete.
To support his family he worked different jobs, and with all the obstacles and challenges he thought about giving up and returning to Mexico, but the warrior in him kept him going until he landed a job with Hygea Labs in Sierra Madre, CA in 1986. He worked tirelessly there until 1997, when he decided to open his own Environmental Testing laboratory. He had his whole family by his side help pick the name of his new company, Micron Environmental Laboratories. Until the day he passed, he fought tirelessly and did all he could to get through the ups and downs. He never gave up fighting even through the stress and challenges over the years and worked tirelessly.
He had a deep love for god and nature, he took many trips over the years to Sedona, Zion National Park, the Grand Canyon and many other of god’s natural wonders. His favorite thing to do with his family was to take them camping to experience places like these every summer. As life progressed his sons were married and Daniel and Nora became grandparents to 4 beautiful grandchildren, Andy, Ada, Levi, and Olive. Daniel loved his family with all his heart.
The last year of his life he struggled with many difficulties of running his business of 27 years, and health complications, but maintained steadfast in his love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. The last week of his life he spent with his family enjoying a backyard barbeque with his wife, son’s, daughter-in-laws, grandkids, and in-laws at his home before leaving for his last summer road trip with his family. On Tuesday, June 11th, 2024 Daniel visited the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, Arizona and returned back to the vacation rental to rest. When returning home, he grabbed his bible from the car to read and relax with the majestic view of the red Sedona mountains. His last words to Nora were that he saw a bright light, and passed to heaven to be with god that afternoon.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, his three sons, three daughter-in-laws, and four grandchildren.
