Chelmsford, MA: Dale R. Call, 88, of Chelmsford, and a former resident of Haverhill, MA for twenty-six years and Charlestown, MA for twelve years, died on April 8, 2014 at the V.A. Medical Center in West Roxbury, MA.

Born, raised, and educated in East Port, ME, son of the late Oscar and Mary Theresa (Higgins) Call, Mr. Call served as a Torpedoman Third Class in the United States Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked as a lobster fisherman off the coast of Maine for many years. Most recently he was employed by local companies.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the V.F.W. and the American Legion, all of East Port, ME. He was also a former Committee Leader of Troop 707 of the Boston Council of the Boy Scouts of America and a former Scout Master of the East Port Troop.

He was the husband of the late Goldie M. (Hayward) Call and is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Richard A. and Phoebe Call of Chelmsford, David A. and Karen Call of Sandown, NH, Douglas L. and Debra Call of Newton, NH, and John W. and Diana Call of Londonderry, NH, a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela D. and Joseph Macomber of Chelmsford, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Brookside Chapel and Funeral Home, 116 Main Street, Plaistow, NH. His funeral service will take place on Saturday at 5:15 p.m. in the funeral home followed by the rendering of military honors by the United States Navy. Burial will take place later in the spring in Hillside Cemetery, East Port, ME. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida 32256.
