Cynthia "Cyndi" Paulette Artis, 63, of Brea, CA, was a devoted and caring wife, mother, sister, aunt, godmother, and friend that departed this life at home during the morning of Tuesday, December 6th, 2022 after a long courageous battle with Esophageal Cancer.
Cyndi was born to the late Rene Evelyn Robinson and Paul Rodney Robinson on May 24th, 1959 in Tucson, AZ. Cyndi was affectionately nicknamed "Sissy" by her older brother Rodney because he couldn't pronounce "Cynthia" after she was born. Sissy is the name that all her family members use to this very day to refer to her. Cyndi and her family moved from Tucson to Los Angeles, CA in 1967. The Robinson family moved to Gardena, CA around 1972. She lived her teenage years in Gardena, CA. Cyndi graduated from Gardena High School in 1977 and then she graduated from El Camino College with an Associate's Degree in Office Administration.
After graduating from college, Cyndi started her first job at Gardena Memorial Hospital's business office as an Insurance Collector for approximately 8 years. Cyndi then transferred to Torrance Memorial Hospital's business office where she worked approximately 10 years, before switching over to working part-time as a temp at various medical facilities. In 2006, Cyndi retired from the insurance collection business due to her increasing pain with rheumatoid arthritis.
Cyndi first met Alvin Keith Artis in 1983 in El Segundo, CA and was united in Holy Matrimony to him on April 13, 1989. A son, Daniel Keith Artis, was born from this union.
Cyndi was predeceased by her parents Paul and Rene Robinson. She was also predeceased by her godson David Phoenix Jr.. Cyndi is survived by two brothers, Daniel Curry Robinson, Sr. and his wife Teresa of Long Beach, CA, David Rodney Robinson of Long Beach, CA, a very dear and special first cousin, who was like a sister, Charlotte Hawkins of Fairfield, CA, and a very close childhood friend Wanda Castle of Gardena, CA.
Cyndi leaves behind 39 years of loving memories with her husband, Alvin K. Artis of Brea, CA, son, Daniel K. Artis of Culver City, CA, nephews, Daniel Curry Robinson, Jr. and his wife Desiree of Inglewood, CA, Isaiah Robinson of Inglewood, CA, Terrence Lionel Artis and his wife Terri of Cumming, GA, aunts, Freddie Hawkins of Fairfield, CA, Adele Woodard of Tucson, AZ, uncle, Charles Peterson of Long Beach, CA, first cousins, Pam Hawkins Moss of Fairfield, CA, Jimmy Hawkins, Jr. and his wife Shawna of San Jose, CA, Charles Young and his wife Davida of Long Beach, CA, Gary Young of Tucson, AZ, James Peterson Jr. of Bakersfield, CA, John Douglas of Tucson, AZ, Whitney Woodard of Tucson, AZ, Andre Peterson of Phoenix, AZ, Charles Peterson Jr. of Phoenix, AZ, Damaria Peterson of Las Vegas, NV, second cousins, Kerri Dominique Moss of Fairfield, CA, Maya Young of Long Beach, CA, father-in-law, Lionel Artis Sr. of Goldsboro, NC and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.
