Cynthia Abapo

March 20, 1954 — September 2, 2024

Rosa Cynthia Garcia Librinca Abapo was born on March 20, 1954, in Cebu City, Philippines, the second daughter and third child of Regulada (Reling) and Panteleon (Tiong) Librinca. As a child, she was fun-loving and mischievous, with many friends to whom she was always generous and warm. She attended San Carlos Girls High School and Chong Hua School of Nursing (graduating in 1970 and 1976, respectively), where she made many lifelong friends.

After nursing school, Cynthia made the brave decision to move to the United States, living in Nebraska and Chicago, and ultimately finding her way to Los Angeles, where she met the love of her life and true partner in adventure, Roie Abapo. Cynthia and Roie married in 1983 and soon after welcomed their firstborn, Leeanne Gaile. Years later, they were blessed with their son, Geoffrey Brian.

Cynthia spent over 30 years as a dedicated Labor and Delivery registered nurse at Los Angeles County Hospital, supporting countless new mothers in bringing life into this world. After retirement, Cynthia embarked on a second career: world traveler, always stopping to smell the roses and delighting in all pleasures, big and small. Beyond material pleasures, she cherished her faith in God, valued spending quality time with family and friends, shared meals and connections whenever she could, and nurtured and cultivated her beloved garden.

Cynthia is survived by her husband, Roie; her children, Leeanne (with Jakob) and Geoffrey; her sister, Amyrellis; her nieces and nephew; grandbabies; and Little One, the family dog. She will be missed immensely by her family, many friends and loved ones whose lives she enriched with her love, generosity, kindness, and humor.

Cynthia, you were one of a kind. May your memory be a blessing to all who had the deep honor to know and love you.
