Cruz nació el 23 de Noviembre de 1947 en Talpa De Allende, Jalisco.
A los 10 años de edad, él y su familia se mudaron a Guadalajara, ahà él fue a la escuela y trabajaba para ayudar a la familia.
El 1963 emigró a Estados Unidos al norte de California para trabajar en el campo para ayudar a su familia en México.
En 1968 Cruz vino para Los Ãngeles donde conoció a su esposa, Priscila Arce y se casaron en 1971. Durante estos años trabajó en la construcción y en 1979 se mudaron a Ontario, California donde pasó el resto de su vida.
Cruz Mendoza fue en gran hombre, gran hijo, gran hermano, gran papá, gran tÃo, gran abuelo y gran amigo. Siempre hizo hasta lo imposible para mantener a la familia unida. Fue un hombre fuerte y muy trabajador, siempre dispuesto a ayudar a los demás. Fue un gran ejemplo para todos. Cruz deja a su esposa, cuatro hijos y siete nietos.
