Cristeta Bedrejo Galgana passed away at the age of 78 from heart failure on Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Loma Linda University Medical Center-Murrieta after a recent struggle with back pain and complications resulting from pain medications and hemodialysis treatment.
Cristeta was born on May 31, 1939, in Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Philippines to her mother, Cristeta Chavez and father, Jose Bedrejo, Sr. She was the youngest of their five children. Cristeta received her Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Santo Tomas in 1962. She met the love of her life, Sixto Juan Galgana in Manila, Philippines and they married on October 29, 1968. Shortly after they made the decision to build their lives and start a family together in the United States and became proud U.S. citizens.
Cristeta worked with employers such as Southern California Edison and Vigon Lighting. In December 2005, she retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach after almost 30 years as a Pharmacy Technician in order to care for her sick husband. On January 26, 2008, she lost her husband to complications from renal cancer.
Cristeta prayed often and kept a very private relationship with God. She loved to spend time with her family the most. You could always expect she was with her husband attending family and friend gatherings, going to concerts or casino hopping. In 2012, she moved to Temecula, California to live with her daughter and family. There she developed a new set of friendships and enjoyed early morning walks and potlucks at the park, weekly Zumba classes in the church hall, and frequent meetings with her prayer group of friends. The one thing she never missed was the opportunity to spend time with her beloved grandchildren, Dean & Bella. In December 2015, Cristeta moved in with her son, Jeffrey Galgana in his new home in Winchester, California.
Cristeta is survived by her children, Philip, Christine and Jeffrey, her four grandchildren Jared, Dean, Isabella and Audrey, her brothers, Jose and Dionisio, her sister, Nellie, and several nieces and nephews.
