Constance (Connie) Lim, 88, born on June 21, 1936, passed away August 15, 2024.

Having been born in Manchuria China, Connie came to Korea in 1944 and lived through the Korean conflict until 1956, when she came to the United States to study English at Marion College in Indiana (now known as Indiana Wesleyan University).  It is at Marion that she met her beloved husband John (Chun Soo) in 1959, when they married in 1963.  Following graduation, she received her master's degree from Southern Illinois University before matriculating at Rutgers University where she received her Ph.D. in linguistics.  Forever a believer of the importance of education, she became a professor, eventually at Cal Poly Pomona, where she taught for many years and published papers and books.  In her teaching career, she taught scores of post-graduate students about linguistics, one of her many legacies.  She eventually became chair of the linguistics department at Cal Poly, retiring as professor emeritus.

Family was even more important than education as a career.  The mother of two boys, Bruce and Bryant, she raised these rambunctious boys with her husband first in Dover, Delaware, Somerville, New Jersey, then moved to California in 1975, Anaheim Hills before moving to Claremont.  A religious person, she was a member of the Lutheran and SDA faiths.

She leaves her husband of more than sixty years, her son Bryant, her daughter-in-law SooHee, her daughter-in-law Karen, her beloved granddaughter Melanie and her beloved grandson Peter.  She adored her grandchildren more than life itself.  She resided in Corona, CA at the time of her passing. Arrangements are under the care of Forest Lawn, Covina Hills, CA.
